So I’ve really dropped the ball on updating here, huh? But before you flog me, I’ve got some decent excuses that don’t involve my dog eating my homework. Some awesome opportunities have taken me away from Sheep & Stitch in the last few months. Let’s take stock, shall we?

Skillshare

Remember that e-learning site I mentioned way back in April? Well, that’s Skilslhare! In May I was hard at work developing four beginner knitting courses for Skillshare. And guess what? They’ll be coming out in the beginning of July!

I’m super excited for these Skillshare knitting courses. They take you through extremely beginner patterns, like a garter stitch scarf, all to way up to a chic headband that looks complicated but is actually very easy to do. Who doesn’t love a deceptively easy pattern?

I had the garments shot around Sheung Wan in Hong Kong. Enjoy some outtakes from our afternoon shoot!

Along the way we met five bow-tied Shiba Inus, who we later learned are local celebrities who perform under the name We5! We had some fun buddying up to these little guys. They’re all part of the same family!

This is one of my favourite shots from the shoot: the slouchy ribbed hat knit in Crave Yarn’s Bolo in colorway Misty Mountain. Yum. I could live in this all winter. Skillshare courses come out early July, so keep your eyes peeled for them!

Canadian Living

Right now I’m working on a cowl for Canadian Living Magazine. I think it’s super chic, if I do say so myself! I’m using KPC Yarns Novomerino in a chunky weight, and it’s as smooth as butter. A notoriously wool-resistant friend ran her hands across it and surprised even herself by saying, “Wow! That feels amazing.”

Look out for it in the next few weeks on CanadianLiving.com. I’ll post a link to it once it’s live on the site!

Workshops

I run an online business in this little corner of the web, but I like meeting people in person too, which is why I’m super delighted to be teaching a workshop next week at The Crafties – easily the coolest crafting space in Hong Kong!

If you’re a knitting newbie looking to learn the magical art of knitting, come sign up! In an hour you’ll learn how to knit, and you’ll have the skills to knit this sweet summery scarf. Spots are limited, so sign up sooner rather than later by emailing info@thecrafties.hk

Founder Institute

Starting Sheep & Stitch has been a bit of a roller coaster ride. (You can read more about it here on Create & Thrive). To help me focus and grow this business I recently joined a startup incubation program called Founder Institute. They’re based out of Silicon Valley with chapters all over the world.

The Hong Kong chapter launched this year, and I’m so pleased to be in their inaugural class. In addition to learning about business models, marketing, product/customer development and pitching my ideas and having them rated by mentors Dragons-Den-style, I get paired up with big-deal business mentors for more individual attention. Loving it so far!

So, that’s where I’m at this summer! I am determined to get the classic raglan out the door asap because, seriously, it’s been way too long.

Let me know what fun things you’ll be getting up to this summer and whether you plan on doing any knitting!
