It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s the Super Snood! This snood (rhymes with “food”) is truly super.
Fully reversible and fluffy as all get out, you’ll want this around your neck all winter.
A two-row repeat makes the Super Snood a cinch to memorise. A double looping around your stitches yields a fluffy fabric that looks a lot like garter stitch, but is so much cushier!
To knit the pattern, you’ll need to know how to knit and cast off. Not sure how to do that yet? Check out How to Knit and come back when you’re ready!
Pattern Information
Yarn: 1 skein of TJOCKT Martta the Merino (140 meters/200g) in color Cloud (similar yarns are Lana Grossa Ragazza in color 84 or Malabrigo Rasta in color Cosmos)
Recommended Needles: 24″ or longer circular needles size US 15/10mm
Gauge: 10.5 sts = 4″ in stockinette stitch
Finished Measurements: Circumference is 32″ and height is 9.5″
Notions:
- tapestry needle
- scissors
- tape measure or ruler
Pattern construction: While the snood is knit on circular needles, it’s actually knit flat and then seamed together at the end.
The reason why it’s not knit in the round is because this particular stitch pattern, as far as I know and have experimented, cannot be recreated in the round.

This is a once-around-the-neck scarf, right? If I wanted to make it a wrap-twice-around-the-neck scarf, would I simply double the amount of yarn and the number of cast on stitches?
Davina says
Hey there! Yes, this snood wraps just once around the head. To make it longer, you can certainly double the yarn. As for the number of cast on stitches, this stitch pattern is unique in that you can cast on ANY number of stitches and the pattern will work out. So, go wild and double the cast on stitches or cast on any number you like.
Nadya says
I’ve entered the password but it didn’t direct me to the video
Davina says
Hi Nadya! Oh no, you’re right! This is a malfunction. The re-direct for the password is not working for some reason. I’ve contacted the plugin author to see what can be done. In the mean time, you can access the page here: https://bit.ly/2976iqY and in the video box, just type in your password again and the video should play. I really apologise for this. I’m going to try to figure out a workaround for this pattern page and all the other pattern pages while waiting for a solution. Thanks for your patience, and do let me know if you encounter any other problems.
Davina says
Hey Nadya! Just wanted to give you an update. The bug has been found! So now when you enter the password into the password field, you’ll be directed to the video page. Let me know if you have any other issues. Cheers!

Hi Davina,
I can’t get this link to work either, hope you can help. Love your site by the way!

Davina says
Hi Sonia,
Do you mean the password to access the videos? If so, the password is on the first page of the PDF pattern. If you purchased your pattern before July 2016, then you can delete the first word “super” from the password and enter the rest of the password. Hope this helps! Let me know if that’s not the exact problem you’re having. Would be happy to help!

Hi Davina, I have bought this tutorial and the first time I watched the video it worked (like an hour ago). I need to watch it again and the password does not work anymore. I have tried a few times to make sure I am not typing anything wrong and still doesn’t work.
Davina says
Hi Hwei Ling,
Sorry for the technical problems. Let me see if I can help you diagnose.
When you enter the password into the video player, does an image of the super snood appear? If so, after you press the play button, does the screen just stay blank? And for how long?
I’ve tried to load the video with the password in two browsers (Chrome and Firefox), and both times they load okay. It’s possible that Vimeo, where the video is stored, was down for a few minutes. It could also be that your internet connection was slow when you were trying to load the video. Can you try loading the video again and let me know what happens in the video player?

Could this pattern be done with straight needles?
Davina says
Yes! It can be done with straight needles, but the knitting might be a bit bunched up. A circular needle would be more comfortable I think.

Hi
Is this purchase still valid?
Thanks

Hi Davina!
I’d like to set a lifeline on this, as I’m still a beginner and have a tendency to drop stitches when I’m not paying close close attention. I can’t quite workout how to set one as an afterthought. Any advice?
Thanks!
Kelley

Hi Kelley, sorry for the late reply! You might find this post and video on inserting lifelines helpful: https://sheepandstitch.com/library/how-to-use-lifelines-in-knitting-and-why-you-need-them/
