Nothing says playful like a pom pom, and the Big Hat, with its oversized pom and reverse stockinette stitch peeking out from the brim, manages to be both playful and practical. Made with super bulky yarn, the Big Hat produces a warm, cushy fabric that knits up quick. It’s also a great pattern for ambitious beginners looking to expand their skills beyond the basics.

We’ll cover a lot of ground in Part 1 of the video. We’ll go over the materials list, learn the longtail cast on, knit in the round, tackle the ever-useful 2×2 rib, knit on double-pointed needles and decrease. Whew! Don’t worry. It’ll go by in a flash!
